Virtual Mentorship:
Real Time Support for First Year Teachers

Outcomes

To develop a model for the development of professional development plans for novice teachers and their mentors.

To create electronic forums designed to facilitate professional exchange for the novice and mentor related to the "realities" of the induction year. The forum topics will be based on the individual and collective needs of the novice and mentor cohort.

To establish a virtual mentorship web page designed to be a gateway to the professional forums and resources for the novice/mentor cohort.

To develop a series of seminars related to novice/mentor issues based on the INTASC standards and professional development plans of the cohort group. These seminars would have components from all three of the distance delivery strategies: e-mail, web site, and interactive television.
