Professional Practice Portfolio Framework

Goals and Outcomes

Our primary goal is to help new teachers understand the INTASC standards and integrate them into their practices. Other goals include providing a practical application of the INTASC standards, integrating first-year teacher's needs within the larger context of teaching, establishing a clearer link between mentoring strategies and INTASC standards, and establishing a professional practice framework available to any teacher trying to improve his/her practice. From this, first-year teachers will develop a larger vision of teaching as a profession and will understand the professional development continuum; mentors will develop skills to coach their mentees to higher levels of competence; and professional portfolios will be produced that are performance-based, aligned with the INTASC standards, and directly linked to student achievement.
