Up: Technology in the Geometry Classroom
Format of Final Projects
The following are suggested formats for two different types of final
project -- the Inservice Presentation Materials and the Lesson Plans
and Materials.
Inservice Presentation Materials
The purpose of this project is to prepare other teachers to use some
software, course materials, or video tape in their classrooms. If
time permits, your final exam will be to make this presentation to
your fellow classmates.
Suggested Format
- State the intended audience and objectives for the presentation.
- Describe the purpose of the materials.
- Present an example of the use of the materials.
- Engage the audience in working with or discussing the materials.
- Give examples of other uses of materials.
- Conclude with a persuasive argument for the use of the materials. If
applicable, distribute paper and electronic copies of the materials.
Lesson Plans and Materials
The purpose of this project is to develop educational mathematical
materials for use in the classroom. These materials should make good
use of technology including, but by no means limited to, using HTML
documents to present the materials. Choose your subject matter
carefully with this goal in mind.
Suggested Format
- State the objective of the lesson.
- List topics covered in the lesson and prerequisites.
- Briefly describe the lesson.
- List items needed to teach the lesson.
- Give a detailed lesson plan.
- Provide student handouts and HTML documents used in the lesson.
- Provide a means of assessing the success of the lesson.
