Making a Mac image into a GIF image
If you create an image on the Macintosh, for example, with the
scanner, or using the screen capture command, then you will have a
file which can be read on the Macintosh. However, in order to use this
file for the Web, you will have to put it into a universal format such
as GIF. Once you have a Macintosh image, here is how to put it in GIF
format, using the software GIF Converter:
- Open GIF Converter (under Graphics Apps)
- Under the File menu, select Open, and choose your file to open.
- There are many ways to manipulate your file within GIF
Converter, such as cropping. They should be fairly self-explanatory.
- When you have an image you like, under the File menu, select Save As.
- Change the File Type button to GIF. Edit the name to be of the
form filename.gif, and save.
- You now have a GIF file, the proper format for the Web. You are ready to
put in on the into the Unix world.
