Web Homework

1. Through the links in Part 2 of the Introduction to the Web, find at least three Web pages on three different Web sites which contain interesting mathematics, as well as using the Web as an effective teaching tool. (Choosing different Web sites means, for example, that only one of your three choices could be at the Geometry Center.) Give the locations (URLs; This should look something like "http://www.geom.umn.edu/graphics/".) For these Web pages, write a review; talk specifically about the mathematics and how the web page addressed it. How did the medium of hypertext help to teach the mathematics? (Do not answer "it did not help." If you do not think that the medium helped, then find another Web page.)

2. This question gets you started thinking about your final project: Describe your reactions to the Web as a mathematics teaching tool. When is the medium especially useful? Can you think of any mathematical ideas which one might convey well using the Web? When is it not useful? Do you notice any pitfalls? Support your statements with examples.

3. With the help of the tutorial, write your home page and save it in your own apple directory. The more you learn, the easier it will be for you to turn in homework in html in future weeks. At the very least, your home page should include the following:
   • A title
   • A header
   • At least two paragraphs
   • A picture (that you have scanned)
   • A link to another document
   • Your name and email address.
