Special Topics:Modeling and Simulation

Garden at Midday by Kate Jenkins and Daeron Meyer

These plants were created with L-systems, which also simulate the impact of outside forces on the plant such as gravity, wind, and sunlight.

How to make it: The L-systems were created in Mathematica to output the initial data, which was then displayed by geomview (developed here at the Geometry Center) or rayshade (a raytracer by Craig Kolb).
