To dive right in, go straight to the applets:

The pages listed below describe the software in more detail, introduce the math behind the pictures, describe the programming in Java(tm), and give technical specifications.

The Java(tm) applets Fractalina and Franimate! (which together comprise the package edu.umn.geom.IFSoft) were written by Noah D. Goodman under the direction of Stuart Levy during the Geometry Center Summer Institute '96, for the Dynamical Systems and Technology Project at Boston University headed by Bob DeVaney.

These programs are intended to illustrate ideas about fractals to high school and middle school students. Additional related educational material is also available from the the Dynamical Systems and Technology Project web site.
