Mathematical Computation
Mathematical computation software lurks behind the scenes of nearly all
Geometry Center projects. To visualize a geometric object, it is
usually necessary to compute things -- vertices, edges, faces,
colormaps, normals, convex hulls -- the list is virtually endless.
Sometimes it is necessary to write specialized software to make these
calculations, but often it is more efficient to utilize general
purpose computational software.
The Center has a good selection of mathematical computation software
and library functions. However, there is a vast quantity of publicly
available mathematical software and code on the net. Consult the
mathematical software resource page
for additional sources of information.
