Geometric Utilities
In the course of many geometric visualization projects, Geometry
Center staff and visitors have created a number of very useful utility
programs. Glance over the descriptions below and keep them at the
back of your mind, so you needn't waste time inventing a wheel, when
you can get a roller bearing off the shelf!
All packages can be downloaded directly from the Geometry Center
Software archive. Program name links
lead to their respective man pages.
- epsilon --
Epsilon is a data filter for squashing floating point round off
errors. The compiled version is not installed, so get the source.
- Geometric Utilities -- This is a collection routines for
manipulating polygons and arcs.
- poly2tri breaks arbitrary
polygons into triangles .
- poly2area computing
polygon areas.
- poly2xy places polygons in
3-space in the XY plane.
- arc2list converts arcs
into polylines.
- omni_make and omni_interp -- These utilities are
designed to manipulate and interpolate arbitrary data sets. The user
supplies C routines to operate on data in a particular format. The
executables are installed, but there are no man pages. However, there
is good documentation, including examples, in the standard
distribution in the Center software archive.
