Harvey has actively led the Center's educational initiatives since the
early days of the Center. In his role as Education Director, he
coordinates all aspects of the Center's educational outreach at the
K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels, and is also actively engaged
in creating opportunities for the professional development of the
Center's postdocs and staff. Harvey has organized many conferences,
workshops, and meetings at the Center, including workshops on K-12
materials development, calculus reform, and a unique workshop on
networking and sharing resources among large research universities.
Harvey has been a driving force behind the Center's summer educational
activites, including the institute for undergraduates, the program for
high school teachers, and a summer "camp" to attract women and
minorities into mathematics.
