The School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota is developing a new ``Calculus Initiative'' sequence for students in its Institute of Technology. The typical student in this sequence is an engineering major, although there are also students from computer science, physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Accordingly, the new calculus sequence incorporates content, instructional methods, and learning tools that we believe will help our students become mathematically literate engineers and scientists.
Details of this curriculum are described in [Keynes, et. al]. This paper solely focuses on the laboratory modules in the course, especially those that utilize interactive features of the World-Wide Web. The labs that we describe here were developed at the Geometry Center and are available on the Web. Be warned: a written summary is not a substitute for actually looking at the labs!
