Activities at the Geometry Center

Rick led Pisces Project at the Geometry Center and was involved in the creation of dynamical systems software tools. He was heavily involved in the University of Minnesota calculus initiative and has created and twice taught a new course on multivariable calculus at the Geometry Center. He has written several expository papers on the educational activities at the Center.

Rick supervised eight undergraduate students during the Geometry Center's summer reasearch experience, and worked with female and minority students in grades 6-8. His work with middle school students led him to create an on-line teacher's guide that describes how to build a Platonic solid as a classroom project.

Background

Rick graduated from Cornell University in 1993 with a degree in Applied Mathematics. He has spent summers working in industries such as Lockheed-Martin Aerospace and the General Electric R&D Center.
